2026 China-Central Asia Science Literacy Exchange Forum Held in Xi'an

XI'AN, China, Oct. 20, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- On October 15, the 2026 China-Central Asia Science Literacy Exchange Forum took place at Xi'an Jiaotong University. Co-hosted by the China Science Writers Association (CSWA), the China Institute for Science Popularization (CRISP), Xi'an Jiaotong University and Kyrgyz State Technical University (KSTU), and co-organized by Shaanxi Association for Science and Technology, the event is part of the 2026 China-Central Asia science and technology-humanities exchange series. Under the theme "Science-Culture Integration, People-to-People Bonding", it aims to build a regular dialogue platform for science popularization between China and Central Asian countries, and advance practical cooperation in youth science communication talent training, popular science creation and public science literacy improvement.

Wang Chunfa, Chairman of the CSWA, delivered an address. He stressed that science literacy underpins national innovation. Against the backdrop of rapid advances in cutting-edge technologies, the event seeks to strengthen regular dialogue channels and long-term communication mechanisms for Chinese and Central Asian science popularization practitioners, enabling them to share experience and advance regional science, technology and humanities cooperation. Shao Jinyou, Vice President of Xi'an Jiaotong University, pledged the university's commitment to building a closer China-Central Asia community with a shared future.

The programme featured keynote speeches and a round-table discussion. Five Chinese and foreign guests shared practical cases covering talent development, AI-empowered education, the Belt and Road joint laboratory construction, and regional science, technology and humanities cooperation. Moderated by Li Honglin, a researcher at CRISP, the round-table session brought together experts from China and Central Asia to explore coordinated approaches to youth science talent cultivation and science literacy enhancement. Prior to the event, Wang Chunfa held in-depth talks with Wu Guosheng of Xi'an Jiaotong University on deepening bilateral cooperation.
