Hong Kong's "M" Mark Esports Event Returns: Sellout BLAST Premier Rivals Confirmed For Second Year Following Historic Debut

HONG KONG, Oct. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Government and industry leaders gathered today at Marco Polo Hong Kong Hotel to formally launch the second edition of BLAST Premier Rivals Hong Kong, confirming that the city's landmark "M" Mark esports tournament will return this November, building on a sold-out debut that established Hong Kong as a premier stage for global esports.

The BLAST Premier Rivals Hong Kong 2026 is proud to be awarded "M" Mark status which helps to enhance the image of Hong Kong as a capital of international sports event. The "M" Mark awarded by the Major Sports Events Committee, symbolizes an intense, spectacular and signature event in the territory sports calendar.

Eight of the world's best Counter-Strike teams will compete for a share of a $1 million prize pool from 11-15 November, with the tournament culminating in three days of live playoff action at AsiaWorld-Arena from 13-15 November, when six of the eight teams battle to be crowned BLAST Premier Rivals champions.

The launch follows a historic first edition in November 2025, which became the biggest esports event ever staged in Hong Kong. A sell-out crowd of 12,000 fans packed AsiaWorld-Arena for the Grand Final, part of more than 30,000 fans who attended across the tournament's three live audience days, with attendees travelling from 58 nations.

Last year's tournament impact extended far beyond the arena. An independent report prepared by the Education University of Hong Kong found:

  • Over HK$600 million / $76 million USD in total economic impact, spanning direct, indirect, induced and media value
  • 36 million hours watched globally, with 262 million live views and a peak audience of 2.1 million viewers
  • 8.6 out of 10 average event rating, with 82% of fans scoring their experience 8/10 or above and a net promoter score of +42
  • 74% of attendees were first-time esports arena-goers, and 86% said they would return to Hong Kong because of the event
  • More than 50% of ticket buyers travelled from outside Hong Kong, staying an average of five extra nights and contributing over 22,000 hotel room nights to the city's hospitality sector

The BLAST Premier Rivals Hong Kong 2025 was also the first esports tournament ever awarded the "M" Mark - a status granted by the Major Sports Events Committee (MSEC) to events judged to significantly enhance Hong Kong's international profile. The tournament has again been recognised under the programme for its 2026 edition, extending its status as a major and important event for Hong Kong, China.

Today's launch reinforces Hong Kong, China's strategy of positioning itself as a leader in hosting world-class gaming and entertainment events, alongside continued investment in the local esports ecosystem, which includes community ticket programmes, a tournament-operations shadowing scheme for students, and the employment of over a hundred local crew and production staff during the 2025 event.
