5th Hong Kong International Biotechnology Conference and Exhibition (BIOHK2026) Officially Opens

The grand opening ceremony brought together global dignitaries, Hong Kong SAR officials, Greater Bay Area (GBA) representatives, and event organizers to discuss public health, Hong Kong's innovation ecosystem, and regional integration. Mr. John KC Lee, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong SAR, sent a congratulatory message themed "A Convergence of Global Minds in Biotechnology, Advancing on the Road to Life Science Excellence and Future Prosperity," calling for collective action to shape the industry's future. In his opening address, Prof. Albert Yu, President of BIOHK2026, reviewed the event's 5-year evolution into a global nexus for life sciences innovation, emphasizing its role in driving ideas toward market deployment. Mr. Leung Chun-ying, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the CPPCC, highlighted opportunities under China's 15th Five-Year Plan and the Nansha Guangdong-Hong Kong cooperation framework.

Key government leaders, including Prof. Sun Dong, Secretary for Hong Kong Innovation, Technology and Industry, and Prof. Lo Chung-mau, Secretary for Hong Kong Health Bureau, shared insights on policy support and cross-border regulatory harmonization.
