SEMIFLOR CO., LTD.

TAIPEI, Sept. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The 5th SDG Asia was held August 27 to 29, 2026, at Taipei World Trade Center Hall 1. Organized by the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE), the event brought together government agencies, businesses, academic and research institutions, and civil society organizations, making it one of Taiwan's leading platforms for sustainability exchange.

Semiflor participated in 2026 SDG Asia with the Taiwan Wellness Building Association and industry partners at the “Wellness Building Pavilion,” bringing together expertise in healthy buildings, sustainability consulting, green building materials, circular materials, and social inclusion to advance healthier and more sustainable built environments.

The 2026 exhibition featured nine thematic zones. Semiflor participated in the Wellness Building Pavilion, curated by the Taiwan Wellness Building Association within the Sustainable Building Zone, alongside partners from architecture, sustainability consulting, building materials, and social welfare sectors.

Under the theme "Wellness Building, Healthier Taiwan," the pavilion addressed a broad range of topics, including WELL healthy buildings, GRESB real estate sustainability benchmarks, green building materials, circular and low-carbon materials, healthy homes, and social inclusion, highlighting diverse approaches to health and sustainability across the building industry.

Integrating Sustainability into Materials, Spaces, and Business Operations

At the exhibition, Semiflor presented its "ESG Practices, Driving a Healthy and Sustainable Transformation" initiative, highlighting recent progress in sustainable materials, healthy buildings, and information transparency across the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) dimensions.

On the Environmental (E) front, Semiflor continues to introduce products supported by environmental information and third-party certifications, including Taiwan Healthy Green Building Material certification, Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), and Cradle to Cradle Certified® products. These efforts address key concerns like material carbon footprints, human health, and circularity.

On the Social (S) front, Semiflor has incorporated WELL principles into its workplace. The Linkou office building and showroom adopted the WELL Building Standard and achieved WELL Platinum recertification in January 2025. Through ongoing management based on the ten WELL concepts, Semiflor has integrated healthy building practices into the everyday workplace while gaining practical experience in WELL implementation.

For Governance (G), Semiflor emphasizes transparent material information and independent third-party verification, steadily incorporating sustainability into product decisions and business operations.

From Green Building Materials to Circular Solutions

At the Wellness Building Pavilion, Semiflor presented and applied products including Shaw Contract circular carpet and the latest Artureon wood flooring, demonstrating different approaches to circular economy principles, healthy material selection, and the sustainable development of wood-based flooring.

Shaw circular carpet has obtained Taiwan's Green Building Material Label, addressing indoor environmental quality and occupant health. Its design and take-back recycling system enable used carpet materials to return to the production cycle through closed-loop, carpet-to-carpet recycling, reducing waste while retaining material value.

Shaw circular carpet was also installed throughout the Wellness Building Pavilion, allowing visitors to experience the application of circular materials directly within the exhibition environment.

The latest Artureon waterproof wood flooring showcased developments in sustainable sourcing, durability, functionality, and carbon storage in wood-based materials. It provides another approach to incorporating health, low-carbon, and circular considerations into flooring selection for different spaces.

Through these materials, Semiflor presented a broader view of sustainable material selection where health, safety, environmental information, carbon emissions, and end-of-use circularity are increasingly considered together in sustainable building practices.

Sharing a Cradle-to-Cradle Approach to Circular Carpet

On August 28, the Taiwan Wellness Building Association hosted the "Healthy Taiwan Seminar" during the exhibition, bringing together representatives from industry, government, and academia to discuss healthy buildings, net-zero buildings, circular materials, and sustainability practices.

Semiflor Sustainability Manager Norris Cheung delivered a presentation titled "Cradle-to-Cradle Circular Carpet," introducing the Cradle to Cradle design concept and its application within the carpet industry.

The presentation examined the material life cycle, covering material selection, product design, third-party verification, and post-use recovery. Circular carpet was used as a practical case to illustrate a carpet-to-carpet closed-loop model and approaches the building materials industry can use to reduce resource consumption and waste generation.

Making Sustainability Part of Long-Term Business Practice

Founded in 1981, Semiflor has specialized in interior flooring materials for more than four decades, serving offices, healthcare and long-term care facilities, schools, electronics manufacturing and office facilities, hotels, residential developments, and public spaces.

As net-zero development, healthy buildings, and ESG considerations continue to shape the built environment, Semiflor has steadily incorporated sustainability into material selection, workplace management, and professional services.

From introducing EPD-supported, green, and circular materials, to implementing WELL principles within its own office and showroom, and participating in industry dialogue and sustainability education, Semiflor continues to build practical experience across different aspects of sustainability and apply this knowledge to material selection and building projects.

Semiflor views its participation in 2026 SDG Asia as an opportunity to present the sustainability practices it has developed over time. Semiflor will continue to focus on material health, carbon footprints, circularity, and indoor environmental quality, while collaborating with architects, designers, building owners, and industry partners to advance healthier and more sustainable built environments.
